Changes to public transport boarding

Changes to public transport boarding

From 1 February, boarding on 19 public transport routes will be organised only through the front door.

From 1 February, 19 public transport routes – trolleybus routes 13, 20 and 34, as well as bus routes 10, 12, 18, 20, 28, 29, 33, 34, 38, 39, 43, 47, 54, 57, 60 and 63 – will resume the practice of passengers boarding public transport vehicles only through the front doors, and alighting through the middle and rear doors. For passengers with pushchairs and wheelchair users, the boarding procedure remains unchanged and is via the middle door.

The journey on these routes must be registered at the driver’s console. Passengers who pay for their journey using a Code ticket must pay for the journey when they board the vehicle and show the driver the fare confirmation on their phone. This way the driver will make sure that all passengers check in and pay for the journey.

The aim is to change passengers’ habits so that they register every journey and reduce the number of stowaways. It can also reduce the number of people travelling on public transport wearing smelly or smelly clothing.

The project, which involves front-door boarding of public transport, was launched in summer 2019 with the aim of increasing the number of registered journeys by 15%, but the results showed that the number of registered journeys increased by more than 20% on the participating routes.
